In addition to bringing quality events to the county, OCPAG is also committed to providing educational opportunities to the youth of our area. We have supported six scholarships this year with a total contribution of $2600 and organized “Masters Classes” with Max Levinson, Allison Eldredge, and Irina Muresanu for ten students during the San Juan Chamber MusicFest. To strengthen cooperation among local organizations supporting performing arts, we formalized our association with the Ouray County Chorus and expect to derive mutual benefits in the coming years.
With deep appreciation for their generous support we acknowledge the contributions by the Woman’s Club of Ouray, the Massard Trust, and the Zanett Foundation, as well as the underwriting of the major events by the Tisdel Lawfirm, Citizens State Bank, Alpine Bank, Bridger Construction, Cornerstone, Lindal Cedar Homes, San Miguel Power Association, and H. Scott Middleton, CPA. We also received a grant from the Colorado Council on the Arts and a federal grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. OCPAG also was the beneficiary of a very generous bequest by Carol T. Rieger, for which we are deeply grateful. We have invested the full amount as a donor-advised endowment with the Western Colorado Community Foundation and intend to fund special events and scholarships with the proceeds.
We are looking forward to our season finale, the Christmas concert with “Heartbeat,” and to a series of first-rate events in 2008. With your support, we plan to bring back the highly acclaimed Trio Solisti in June and the San Juan Chamber MusicFest in August. As always, we will sponsor free Concerts in the Park, which promise to be fun for the entire family.
To help us do all of this, we again ask for your support. Please fill out the enclosed membership card and mail it back to us along with your membership donation for 2008. Our all-volunteer Board of Directors works hard to make the best use of your membership donations.
When you support Ouray County Performing Arts Guild, you are saying that performing arts are important to our quality of life here in Ouray County. To show our appreciation for your continued support, we will continue to provide admission to some events at reduced cost for our members as well as an annual donor appreciation reception. We will also continue to encourage youth to attend our concerts by offering them free admission.
With gratitude and kind regards,
Sue Hillhouse, President
Kelvin Kent, Vice President
